The fountain bowl was sand-casted by us and the pedestal for the bowl was constructed by using two sizes of cardboard tube (Sonnotube) forms to create a 38in concrete hollow tube where the lighting wires, pump and fill lines are hidden. That darn bowl weighs about 275lbs and is 42in in diameter. The interior of the bowl will eventually be covered in small cut and polished pieces of abalone shell. And I mean eventually....lol. The bowl lifts off using a home made gantry crane and a automotive chain hoist so we can service pumps and lights.
