We constructed the fountain carcass on a concrete slab with cement block and a ton of Thoroseal before we were able to put a few coats of untinted stucco and after tiling with the Talavera and Saltillo tile on the exterior we stained the stucco with a ferric acid concrete stain. The interior tile is just standard pool tile that comes in 1ft square which makes it much easier than setting individual pieces.
