The bed was installed in the autumn of 2006. We kept the existing Skimmia and Japanese Pieris 'Red Mill' and removed the rest of the plants. New plants included: *Bugbane (Cimicifuga racemosa 'Atropupurea') *Climbing Hydrangea (Hydrangea anomala ssp. petiolaris) *Japanese Plum Yew (Cephalotaxus harringtonia 'Prostrata') *Ligularia (Ligularia dentata 'Othello') |

I really like the plants you have chosen. Your plan looks so pleasant and well thought out. I live in North Texas and am planning to try to use some of the same plants in a project I'll start this fall-- ligularia (with yellow spots) and a low, spreading yew, except I'm planning on the rependens variety. I'm curious about your climbing hydrangea. I don't think I've ever seen it in person and really don't know much about it. |
