Issues:
1. Didn't provide guarantee for sod as promised and many areas of grass are dead or dying and full of the old grass and weeds.
2. Although DKL provided (after much nagging) guarantees for plants and sprinkler sx; he didn’t respond to my email to have someone come to look at the lawn.
3. Sprinkler system plumbing was installed incorrectly causing decreased water pressure so sprinkler heads didn’t fully extend resulting in many areas of dead and dying grass.
4. Landscape plan doesn’t include plantings as promised.
Lawn:
1. According to Graff Turf Farms ( where the turf was purchased) when I called them about the problems with the sod, DKL didn’t follow turf industry standards for installing new turf resulting in the following problems:
o Soil wasn’t graded properly and lawn is very uneven in some areas, which could result in tripping hazards.
o Old turf / weeds weren’t removed/killed and are now growing alongside new turf
Sprinkler System (SSX):
1. Plumbing for SSX was installed incorrectly. 1) Pipe was not tapped into the Main water supply; and 2) they used ½” pipe instead of ¾” coming from the house (Both 1 &2 are industry standards per three sprinkler companies who examined my system) This lack of proper installation resulted in:
o Sprinkler heads not fully extending causing inadequate coverage and many sections of lawn are dead or dying.
2. Rainbird control box was not attached properly to wall and hangs to one side off of one screw.
3. Plugs in manifold box are quite crowded and will be very difficult (ie time consuming) to repair if and when repairs are needed. (opinion of other sprinkler companies)

Landscape plan inadequate:

1. Landscape plan was never finished. It did not include suggestions for flowers and grasses and only included the major trees and shrubs. It did not include the patio, shed placement, or herb garden. Since the staff was working 10 - 12 hours/day and sometimes 6 days a week, I don’t think there was time to finish the plan. The two days that the crew were on site, they worked 10 hours the first day and almost 12 hours the second day. All of those hours and (1) <30 minute lunch break…it seemed inhumane.
In summary, Don King does not do a quality job and takes shortcuts. There are many poor reviews of his company on the internet..check them out
